FLOAT THERAPY FAQs

  • Nothing at all! We recommend floating nude for the best experience — but you're welcome to wear a swimsuit if it makes you feel more comfortable.
    We provide everything you need:

    • Towels

    • Earplugs

    • Shampoo, conditioner, and body wash

    • A vanity station with GHD straighteners and a hairdryer

Please arrive 15 minutes early to allow time for your pre-float shower and introduction.

  • This is a common concern, and totally understandable. The float experience is inherently relaxing, and most people find any anxiety melts away once they settle in.
    You’re always in control:

    • You can float with the lid open or ajar

    • You can keep the lights or music on

    • You can get out at any time

In fact, many people find that floating helps them gradually overcome their claustrophobia.

    • Avoid caffeine for a few hours before your float

    • Don’t shave or wax within 24 hours — salt water may sting!

    • Eat a light meal around 90 minutes beforehand

    • If you’ve recently shaved, use Vaseline (provided) on any sensitive areas

  • Floatation (or sensory deprivation) tanks were first developed in the 1950s by Dr John C. Lilly. Since then, floatation has grown in popularity among athletes, creatives, business professionals, and those seeking improved mental and physical wellbeing.

  • If you’ve recently coloured your hair:

    • Wait at least 2 weeks after dyeing

    • Ensure water runs clear in the shower

    • Avoid floating if you’ve used vibrant or fashion colours (pink, blue, red, etc.) unless you’re absolutely sure there’s no bleed

    • Do not float if using keratin hair treatments, which are sensitive to salt
Fresh dye can stain our white pods and towels, so please follow this policy to avoid a cleaning/replacement charge.

  • No — our float pods are designed for individual use only. Co-floating is not permitted.

  • If you’re prone to motion sickness, consider taking over-the-counter medication beforehand. You may also find it more comfortable to float with the light on or lid slightly open.

We advise floating after the first trimester, and encourage you to consult your GP or midwife beforehand if you have any concerns.

  • Yes — many people do! Floating is deeply relaxing, and it’s safe to fall asleep in the pod.
Some say 1 hour of floating is equivalent to 2–3 hours of deep sleep.

  • Our water is filtered through a 1-micron filter between every float (that’s 100x smaller than a human hair) and contains over 500kg of Epsom salt, making it an environment where bacteria cannot survive.
Our pod is also disinfected and ventilated daily.

  • Epsom salt (magnesium sulphate) is known to:

    • Soothe muscles and joints

    • Improve circulation

    • Aid in detoxification

    • Leave skin soft, smooth, and refreshed
It’s also antibacterial and antimicrobial, helping with skin conditions like eczema, psoriasis, and athlete’s foot.
